GARRY KIRK BIKE FITTING
INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED BIKE FITTING IN SCOTLAND
WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL BIKE FITTING INSTITUTE OR IBFI?
The International Bike Fitting Institute was founded by Andy Brooke, one of 6 Master Retül Fitters in the UK. Taking British Cycling’s accreditation process for cycling clubs as a template, it introduces a globally recognised accreditation system based on a bike fitter’s current qualifications, experience and expertise as well as providing a platform for bike fitters’ future growth. This idea quickly gained backing from industry leaders such as Steve Hogg, CycleFit, gebioMized, Bikefit, Medicine Of Cycling, TorkeCycling and BikeScience - and all of these systems’ courses provide points or credits towards the 4 levels of accreditation.
WHY GARRY KIRK BIKE FITTING SUPPORTS THE IBFI
Garry Kirk thinks this is the way forward for the consumer. “It allows them to search locally or even nationally for the kind of fitter they need. If they want a motion capture fit, they can find that or similarly if they want something more individual, that’s easily found too - people like Garry who work in a different way. The IBFI is a non-profit organisation with some genuine, honest and experienced bike fitters behind it. Their intentions are to make bike fitting a more regulated, accessible and professional industry and Garry for one, is more than happy to support that.
